Who we are

up-bit.xyz is written and maintained by a small group of independent crypto researchers and journalists who have been in this space since 2017 — long enough to have watched several exchanges fail, a few wallets get drained, and a great many beginners lose money to mistakes that were entirely avoidable. We are not employees, contractors or marketing partners of Dunamu Inc., the company that operates Upbit.

We come at this from a security-auditor angle rather than a promotional one. That means we are professionally cynical about marketing claims, we read the fine print, and we would rather tell you about a withdrawal restriction before you hit it than after. If a feature is convenient but risky, we will say so plainly.

Our mission

Centralized exchanges are easy to sign up for and surprisingly easy to misunderstand. The gap between ‘I bought some crypto’ and ‘I actually control it’ is where most people get hurt. Our mission is to close that gap.

• Demystify the exchange. Explain in plain English what Upbit is, what it costs, and what it can and cannot do for you.
• Teach self-custody. Make the custodial vs non-custodial distinction crystal clear so you know when your coins are an IOU and when they are truly yours.
• Put security first. Push 2FA, phishing awareness, network-matching and sensible seed phrase backup before anyone talks about profits.
• Stay honest. Cover the downsides — KYC strictness, regional limits, withdrawal fees, outages — not just the highlights.

Here is the distinction we repeat most often, because it matters most. An exchange like Upbit is custodial — it holds your private keys, like a bank holds your cash. A self-custody wallet (MetaMask, a hardware wallet) is your own safe: you hold the seed phrase, and if you lose it, no support desk on earth can reset it. Both have a place; confusing them is expensive.

We hold ourselves to a short, strict set of rules so you can trust what you read here even though we make money from some of the links.

• We cite official sources. Fees, asset counts and policy figures come from the official site (upbit.com) at the time of writing. We tell you they can change and ask you to confirm before acting.
• We disclose affiliate links. Where a link can earn us a commission, we label it. No hidden referral codes, no disguised ads dressed up as ‘recommendations’.
• We do not give financial advice. We explain how things work and where the risks sit. What you buy, hold or sell is your decision and your responsibility.
• We update for accuracy. Crypto moves fast. When fees shift, rules tighten or a feature changes, we revise the page and bump the ‘updated’ date rather than leaving stale numbers online.
• We separate fact from opinion. Official figures are flagged as such; our judgements (the pros, the cons, the warnings) are clearly ours.

WE WILL NEVER ASK FOR THISWe will never ask for your password, your 2FA codes, or your seed phrase — and neither will the real Upbit support. Anyone who does is trying to rob you. We cannot access your account or your funds, and we never request remote control of your device.

How we make money

Independent does not mean unfunded. Hosting, research time and keeping pages current cost money, and we would rather be open about where it comes from than pretend the site runs on goodwill.

Treat every figure here as a snapshot and confirm anything important on the official site before you act on it.

ONE WARNING WE REPEAT EVERYWHEREWhen you deposit or withdraw crypto, the send network and receive network MUST match. Sending an ERC-20 token to a TRC-20 address (or any cross-network mismatch) can destroy the funds permanently with no recovery. Always confirm the network on both sides and send a tiny test amount first.
